The
advent of Krav Maga in Sri Lanka is very recent, the Sri Lanka
Krav Maga Federation was established by
Mr. Sathis Thiramunige on 4th February 2011 , being
appointed by the World Krav Maga Federation as "technical
director for Sri Lanka " he organized a tour of internships
in order to introduce this system in the island with the help of
his student and instructor
Mr. Paolo Grandis.The result was very satisfactory due to the
participation of more than 500 among children, teenagers, women,
men, athletes, Sri Lankan Forces and certain unit of the
presidential security division.
Krav Maga is attracting a sharp increase of curiosity and
interest of many within a few days after it’s introduction
in Sri Lanka. Here the merit goes to Mr. D. Wijesiri and Mr.
H.M.Sisirakumara for their sincere support and interest taken in
organizing a very successful
set of events of practical seminars, with the main
intention of introducing Sri Lankans a new and practical defense
system without bringing permanent damages to opponent and
increasing one’s self confidence in facing difficult
situations.
His
years of experience as a martial arts instructor, captured the
standards and needs
of Mr. Sathis Thiramunige, who always aim to fulfill
the increasing necessity of the young generation who seek
for physical activities, which can be used in a composition of
an intelligent and practical
manner respecting never the less the next, promoting
harmony and togetherness among his students making it a point
that each participant could enjoy this discipline and get the
best , the very same way he runs his krav Maga activities in
Italy.
Therefore
he trusts that all instructors chosen are up to the expected
standards.
